Infrastructure Management World (IMW), in conjunction with Computerworld, is seeking IT user-organization case study submissions for its "Best Practices in Infrastructure Management" Awards Program.

Eligible nominees are exclusively IT end-user organizations. Nominations of IT end-user organizations are accepted from IT users themselves, their public relations representatives, or vendors on behalf of their IT end-user customers. Multiple submissions of case studies describing different deployments per IT end-user/organization will be considered.

Deadline for Receipt of Submissions–Via this Online Process: Friday, May 2nd, 2008 (9:00 PM EST). Five finalists will be chosen in each category and honored at Infrastructure Management World, June 16-18, 2008 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, Washington, DC. Award recipients will be recognized on the event website (www.imwusa.com), in an event press release, and may be featured in a special Computerworld supplement.

Judges will evaluate and rank the finalists in each category according to their substantiated Infrastructure Management solution attributes and achievements against a set of criteria such as:
  • Financial return and measurable payback (returns on investment, assets, resources) through created/protected revenue opportunities or cost savings.
  • Strategic importance to the business.
  • Substantive customer impact (service, retention, acquisition).
  • Positive impact on other business/organization units.
  • Addresses system and department interoperability issues and heterogeneous platform integration challenges.
  • Provides a strategic advantage to the business/organization while anticipating and accommodating the deployment of future infrastructure solution initiatives.
  • Supports the efficient and reliable data, information and application sharing/access between personnel, departments, divisions, etc.
  • Addresses challenges of data, information and application security, recovery, business continuity, etc.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Data Center Management, IT Operations & Business Continuity:
Case studies should touch on elements such as the design, architecture, construction and maintenance of the data center, as well as the strategies and policies that ensure that your data and the information and applications crucial to the success of your business are accessible, properly backed up and protected in case of systems failure.

Network Management:
Case studies should focus on how improving the speed, strength, bandwidth and capabilities of your network has helped you to create a smarter, more flexible infrastructure.

Security, Compliance and Risk Management:
Case studies should focus on the essential elements necessary to keep your infrastructure secure, including the policies and best practices that your organization has implemented to ensure you are in line with necessary standards as well as protected from possible threats.

Servers and Virtualization:
Case studies should focus on improvements made to the efficiency of your infrastructure through virtualization and server consolidation, as well as best practices in ensuring that your rollouts are flexible and cost-effective.

Storage and ILM:
Case studies should focus on methods used to improve the storage capabilities of your infrastructure, as well as generate and enforce the policies that govern the management of your data.
